Why You’re Not Getting the Nutrients You Think You Are
(And how to support your body, without overcomplicating things)
I'll be honest with you, this is something I thought about a lot before starting nutrHIT.
I was someone who trained regularly, ate well, and took my health seriously. And yet there were days I felt flat, unfocused, or just… not quite right. Sound familiar?
The frustrating thing is, it's not always about doing something wrong. Sometimes the gap between what we eat and what our bodies actually need is smaller and quieter than we realise. And that's exactly what I want to talk about.
Food is still the foundation. But it's not always the full picture.
Eating whole, balanced meals is still the most important thing you can do, I'm not here to tell you otherwise. But research published via PubMed Central shows that changes in farming, soil quality, and environmental conditions can affect the nutrient content of food. That means even when you're eating well, you might not always be hitting optimal levels of key nutrients. Not dramatically less. Just enough to matter over time.
Most diets aren't bad — they're just repetitive.
Real life looks like the same handful of meals on rotation, rushed lunch choices, and very little variety week to week. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just reality. But it's where small gaps quietly appear. Things like certain B vitamins, trace minerals like selenium and zinc, or essential fats. Not enough to notice right away, but enough to affect how you feel over months and years.
Modern life increases what your body actually needs.
This is the part that often gets overlooked. Stress, poor sleep, hard training sessions, busy routines, all of these increase your body's demand for nutrients, particularly those involved in energy, recovery, immune function, and brain health. So even a good diet doesn't always keep up with the life you're living.
I saw this first-hand when our family went through one of the hardest periods I've known. The emotional toll of supporting someone through serious illness wasn't initially obvious, but a realisation over time of emotional exhaustion, anxiety, the broken sleep. It made me realise how important it is to support your body through life, not just when things are easy.
A more realistic approach: targeted support
Rather than chasing perfection with food (which, let's be honest, isn't sustainable), a smarter approach is eating well most of the time and supporting the areas most likely to fall short.
To make this easier, every nutrHIT product is colour coded so you always know where to start. Green bottles are your Daily Foundations, the core nutrients most people benefit from every day. Orange is Targeted Support, for more specific needs. Pink is Advanced Wellness, for those looking to go further. If you're just starting out, green is your starting point.
Here's what sits in the Daily Foundations range and why each one matters:
Energy & mental clarity → Vitamin B12 🟢 B12 plays a central role in energy production, red blood cell formation, and brain function. Sub-optimal levels can leave you feeling tired, foggy, and flat, often without an obvious reason.
Immunity & everyday resilience → Vitamin C 🟢 Vitamin C isn't just for cold season. It supports immune function, antioxidant protection, and recovery from both physical and mental stress, all things modern life demands a lot of.
Thyroid & cellular protection → Selenium 🟢 Most people have never given selenium a second thought. But it plays a key role in thyroid function, your antioxidant systems, and immune health. It's found in very few everyday foods, which makes it easy to consistently miss.
Recovery, sleep & stress → Magnesium Bisglycinate 🟢 Magnesium supports muscle recovery, sleep quality, and nervous system balance. It's one of the most under-consumed nutrients going, and when stress is high, your body burns through it faster.
Brain, heart & long-term health → Omega-3 🟢 Essential for brain function, heart health, and managing inflammation. But most people simply don't eat enough oily fish to maintain optimal levels. Our vegan algae-based option covers this without any compromise.
Skin, immunity & everyday defence → Zinc 🟢 Zinc is one of those quiet workhorses that touches almost everything, from immune function and cognitive performance to healthy skin, hair, nails, and vision. It's easy to fall short of without realising, especially during periods of stress or illness.
Why this approach works
This isn't about doing more. It's about doing what matters.
No overloading your routine, no chasing perfection, just covering the common gaps, supporting the systems that carry you through each day, and staying consistent.
That's the thinking behind nutrHIT. It started from a very personal place, watching people I love face enormous health challenges and it made me want to build something genuinely useful. Not 40 products, not complicated stacks, just a small, considered range designed to support real people living real lives.
The simple version
You don't need a perfect diet. You don't need a complicated routine. You just need to recognise that modern life creates small nutritional gaps, and small, consistent support can make a real difference.
Eat well most of the time. Support where it counts. Stay consistent.
If you want a straightforward way to do that, you can explore the nutrHIT range. Built to fit real life. 💙
